Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 18, 2026

At StudFinder (“we,” “us,” or “our”), we value and respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and mobile applications (collectively, the “App”) and related services. Where required by law, we use non-essential cookies and tracking technologies only with your consent — see “Cookies, Tracking Technologies & Your Consent Choices” below. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

Information We Collect

  • Personal Information: This may include your name, email address, contact information, and other details you provide when registering or using the App.
  • Account Information: If you create an account, we may collect your account details, including username and password.
  • Device Information: We may collect information about your device, including device type, operating system, browser type, and IP address.
  • Usage Data: We may track how you interact with the App, including features you use, actions taken, and content viewed.
  • Payment Information: If applicable, we may collect payment data (such as billing address and payment method) when you make transactions through the App.
  • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We and our partners use cookies, web beacons, local storage, and software development kits (SDKs) to operate the App, remember preferences, measure usage, and (with your consent) support advertising. You can review and change your choices at any time — see “Cookies, Tracking Technologies & Your Consent Choices” below.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the App and its features.
  • To communicate with you, including sending updates and promotions.
  • To process payments for in-app purchases or services.
  • To personalize your experience based on preferences and activity.
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the functionality of the App.
  • To comply with legal requirements and processes.

How We Share Your Information

  • Third-Party Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party providers who assist in operating the App, processing payments, and performing other services.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information to comply with legal obligations, such as responding to subpoenas or court orders.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction.
  • Analytics and Advertising: We share online identifiers (such as cookie IDs, device identifiers, and IP address) and usage data with the analytics and advertising partners listed below. These identifiers can constitute personal information, and our use of advertising technologies may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under U.S. state privacy laws. We use these technologies only as permitted by your consent choices.

Cookies, Tracking Technologies & Your Consent Choices

We and our partners use cookies, web beacons, local storage, SDKs, and similar technologies, grouped into the categories below. Where required by law, non-essential categories are used only with your consent.

  • Strictly Necessary — required for the App to function, including authentication, security, and payment processing. These are always active.
  • Functional — remember your settings and preferences to improve your experience.
  • Analytics (Measurement) — help us understand how the App is used so we can improve it. Providers include Google Analytics, PostHog, and Sentry (error monitoring).
  • Marketing — used to deliver and measure advertising and to support our email and affiliate programs. Providers include Google Ads, Klaviyo, the eBay Partner Network, and PromoteKit.

You can accept or reject categories, and change your choices at any time, using the cookie banner or the “Privacy choices” link in our website footer. In the EEA and UK we ask for your opt-in consent before using non-essential technologies; in the United States, including California, you may opt out (see “Your California Privacy Rights”). We keep a record of your consent choices.

Service Providers & Partners

We share information with the following categories of providers and partners, who process it on our behalf or for the purposes described above:

  • Authentication, hosting & infrastructure — Amazon Web Services (including Cognito), Cloudflare, and our hosting provider.
  • Payments — Stripe, and Apple for in-app purchases on iOS.
  • Analytics & diagnostics — Google Analytics, PostHog, and Sentry.
  • Advertising, email & affiliate — Google Ads, Klaviyo, the eBay Partner Network, and PromoteKit.

Mobile Application & App Tracking Transparency

Our mobile app collects information similar to the website and uses mobile SDKs (such as PostHog and Google Firebase Analytics) and may access device or advertising identifiers. On iOS, we present Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, and we engage in tracking that requires it only if you allow it and have granted the Marketing category. You can manage these choices in the app’s privacy settings and your device’s privacy controls.

Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your information as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. You can request deletion of your account at any time, and we will process the request as required by applicable laws.

Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and update your personal information through account settings.
  • Opt-out of receiving promotional emails or notifications.
  • Request data deletion by contacting us at privacy@studfinder.app.
  • Manage your cookie and tracking preferences at any time using the cookie banner or the “Privacy choices” link in our website footer.

Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • The right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, disclose, and share.
  • The right to delete and to correct your personal information.
  • The right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information.
  • The right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, our use of advertising technologies (such as Google Ads) may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out at any time using the “Privacy choices” link in our footer — your “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control. To exercise your other rights, contact us at privacy@studfinder.app.

Your Rights in the EEA & UK (GDPR)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases for processing are: performance of our contract with you (to provide the App and process payments); your consent (for analytics, marketing, and non-essential cookies, which you may withdraw at any time); and our legitimate interests in securing, maintaining, and improving the App, balanced against your rights.

You have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.

StudFinder LLC is the data controller. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@studfinder.app.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have, we will take steps to delete it.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed in and transferred to countries outside your own, including the United States. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed.
